JOB DESCRIPTION

Chief Mate on board is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations and activities of the crew, ensuring that all personnel are trained, equipped and motivated to perform their duties efficiently and effectively. The Chief Mate is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the crew and the boat, as well as maintaining compliance with local and international regulations and procedures.
Key responsibilities of the Chief Mate include:
-Leading the crew: Managing, supervising and motivating the crew to ensure they perform their duties efficiently and effectively.
-Safety and security: Ensuring that all crew members are aware of emergency procedures and that all equipment is in good working order.
-Navigation and operations: Supervising the navigation of the crew boat and ensuring that all operations are carried out in a safe and efficient manner.
-Compliance: Ensuring compliance with local and international regulations and procedures, including those related to safety, environment and quality.
-Maintenance: Overseeing the maintenance of the boat and ensuring that all equipment is in good working order.
-Record-keeping: Maintaining accurate records of crew performance, equipment maintenance and vessel operations.
-Communication: Maintaining effective communication with other members of the crew, the owner and other stakeholders.
Candidate must possess excellent leadership and organizational skills, as well as a strong understanding of maritime operations and regulations. A background in maritime operations, navigation and safety is essential, along with experience in managing and supervising crew members.

- STCW II/2 Chief Mate CoC or higher
- Seaman's Book
- Very good knowledge of Italian language
- DP certificate is a plus
